From a young age, she was immersed in music, playing the piano at Sunday school and serving as a delegate for her church. During her formative years at Gainesville High School, Maddam Mya not only excelled academically but also embraced a diverse range of roles, from the school mascot to a wrestler. Her commitment to education and her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities were evident. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at Bethune College and the University of Florida, overcoming financial and personal challenges along the way.
Her music career took a significant turn when she placed third at an event in DeLand, Florida, catching the eye of producer Frankie Biggs Lucio.
